Light controls

onlight discovers and controls your Hue Bridge over your local network. Your Bridge address, light names, room names and commands are not sent to an onlight server.

Saved information

The Bridge connection and application key are stored in macOS Keychain. Preferences, including favourite rooms, keyboard shortcuts, toggle colour and hiding unavailable devices, and an interrupted-session marker are stored locally on your Mac. Reset connection removes the saved Bridge credential from this Mac. It does not remove bulbs or rooms from the Bridge.

Update checks and website visits

Choosing Check for updates contacts onlig.ht for a small release manifest. It does not send your Bridge details or light data. The hosting provider may process normal connection information, including IP address and request logs. Opening support, release or social links uses your browser.

Website analytics

We use Umami on the homepage and downloads page to count visits and clicks on Download for Mac. This helps us understand how people find onlight and how often they choose to download it. Umami collects information such as the page visited, referring site, browser, device type and approximate country, without using tracking cookies. Download clicks do not tell us whether you installed or use the app. Your Hue Bridge details and light controls are not included.

App analytics and error reports

The app contains no advertising, analytics SDK or automatic crash-report uploader. An error report contains the report ID, time, app/macOS version, operation and an allowlisted error code. It excludes Bridge keys, IP addresses, light/room names and raw responses. You choose whether to copy, save or email it.

If you email helloonlight@gmail.com, your email address and message are processed through Gmail so we can respond. Send only the information needed for support. You can contact the same address to request deletion of support correspondence.
